December 1997

Dear Ron and Hazel,

As usual I have waited too long to write nice long letters to everyone I know—the more the years go by the faster they fly by it seems.  Anyway here we are to wish you a very Merry Christmas.  Our picture this year of Embolhrium cocineum (a member of the Protea family) was taken last year on Christmas day near Mt. fitzroy in Southern Argentina.

This year we are staying close to home with a few days, perhaps, at Anza Borrego--out in the desert.  We are much the same as last yr, tho MMA seems a bit more plagued with Knee-arthritis.  Our kids are fine.  Eric is still in Washington D.C., Miguel bought a house in Burlingame near where he teaches high school science, and Alex became engaged.  He hopes to finish up his PHd around March and then?—(his fiancee is an opthamologist working in Michigan) we hope you are all fine and ready to have a great 1998.

December 1997

Dear Don and Sussy,

We are sending you a bit of spectacular peace and quiet from our Christmas day of 1996. Our photo is of Mt Fitzroy in Southern Argentina. From what we have heard the the peak rarely shows itself from its curtain of home-made clouds.

This year were planning a mostly home-body type of Christmas. Miguel will be coming down from Burlingame to pick up some of his stuff for his new home he bought in August. We may go campign for a few days at Anza Borrego while he is around. (Burrr - make me shiver thinking of it!)

We do hope you have a pleasant Holiday time.

With best wishes for 1998

Michael and Irma.
