Surveying the Damage

Finally at the end of January we drove down to Los Angeles, and on Jan. 30 we made our first visit to Radcliffe.  To get into the area, we and other residents and contractors lined up at parking lot 3 off Pacific Coast Highway to obtain access passes.  Unlike those who went through the line in previous days, we did not have to wait too long.  At the parking lot, police checked IDs and volunteers and officials provided snacks, water, and other supplies.  We were escorted a short way up PCH, and then continued on our own, past National Guard troops and utility workers to Sunset (Temescal was closed), and around to Radcliffe.
