| The Army Corps of
Engineers did its first debris removal on a
residential lot in the Palisades on Feb.
21. The county's processing of right of
entry (ROE) forms, which will allow the ACE to
proceed with debris removal, seemed to be taking
a lot of time; county officials said that the
processing was proceeding at a record pace and
that they had to verify ownership. |

| Note: The L.A. County Assessor
overview presents our house as 3 beds, 2 baths,
1,573 sq ft on a 8,131 sq ft lot. According
to LADBS, the building permit for our house was
issued on June 22, 1948, and the certificate of
occupancy issued on Feb. 4, 1949. The
certificate of occupancy for the addition was
issued in Nov. 17, 1959. We moved in in
1967, and our parents made many renovations over
the years, most notably adding the covered deck,
which was finished June 1992. Zillow listed
an estimated market value of $3.17 million, but
Realtor.com showed a huge drop in the latter part
of 2023 and put the estimated value at $2.41
million. Divided among three brothers and
given current housing costs that is a limited
amount, and for me this is not about numbers—it is
about home. |
