Aramoana                                                                                   

13 December - About three dozen people participated in the Ōtepoti Tuesday Trampers Club walk at Aramoana in advance of the group's Christmas gathering.  After meeting at the Domain, we went alongside the saltmarsh, out to the spit, and a bit along the beach before looping back to the Domain.  Although clouds loomed throughout the walk, the weather held until we returned to the Domain for a bountiful feast and year end awards.
A New Zealand sea lion | pakake scared off a smaller, younger pakake then lumbered out into the water.
Umbonium "button top shells."  The incoming waves created interesting patterns which it would have been good to explore, but I didn't have time to get my shoes off.
