Greens Public Meeting and Local Elections Campaign Launch

25 July 2025 - On Friday evening at Errick's on Princes Street, Greens held a well attended public meeting featuring party co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick and local list MPs Francisco Hernandez and Scott Willis.  Swarbrick, who was first elected to Parliament at age 23 in the 2017 election representing Auckland Central, was elected co-leader in March 2024 after the surprise resignation of James Shaw; she joined co-leader Marama Davidson.  After Swarbrick, Hernandez and Willis fielded questions, attendees took a break.  Greens then launched their local elections campaign; they are running four candidates.  Rose Finnie for DCC, Lily Warring for DCC, Alan Somerville for ORC, and Mickey Treadwell for DCC and Mayor each made speeches.  Voting for all 14 Dunedin City Council seats and the mayor and 12 seats on the Otago Regional Council, including five in Dunedin constituency, will take place from 9 Sept.-11 Oct using the single transferable vote (STV) system.
