After this sat on my desk for months, I finally got around to glazing it.  Brushed on Locke's White.
One idea for this vessel was to try to do some screen printing on it, including text "Otago Harbour & Peninsula" and an excerpt of the map.
Slab pot.  I cut out holes in the form of the hills and filled them with stained pieces, but the edges between the two colors tended to blur.  Make sure the slabs are close to leather hard, then clean up the edges a bit by scraping with a stainless slicer/scraper when it is drier.
Adding different amounts of stain powder.  It takes a lot of work to thoroughly blend in the stain.
Stain.
