| The Otago
Daily Times, founded in 1861 and New
Zealand's oldest daily newspaper, is an
independent newspaper run by Allied
Press. The newspaper operates from the
distinctive Allied Press Ltd. building on
lower Stuart Street. The building was
constructed in 1928 and formerly served as
headquarters of the Evening Star. The
two papers merged in 1975. |

building to a new newsroom on the second
